Juanita (Jay) Richardson, 79, of Narrows, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Country View Assisted Living in Peterstown. She was born in Grundy on October 21, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Vice Matney Justus.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death three husbands, Robert Baker, Bernard E. McClanahan and Donald E. Richardson.

Jay was a member of First United Methodist Church in Narrows, and involved in many endeavors throughout Narrows and Giles County. She especially enjoyed reaching out and lending a helping hand to those in need. She was a successful independent business owner in Narrows, including a recreation center and game room, Laundromat, gas station, and a convenience store. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Judy Thomas and husband, John, Jan Bailey and husband, Jimmie Dale, and Jackie (Gigi) Robertson and husband, Tony, all of Narrows; six grandchildren, David Hahn, Josh Caldwell and wife, Amber, Stephen E. Wood, Skeeter Caldwell, Megan Honaker Justus, and Camden Honaker, all of Narrows; eight great-grandchildren, Courtland, Jasmine, Parker, Andrew, Ian, Emma, Corbin, and Colby; four sisters, Carrie Estep, Gert Childress, Kate Dennis, and Susie McClanahan; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends including Kathy Martin and Anna Sue Martin.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Country View Assisted Living in Peterstown for the love and care shown to Jay the past two years.

Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2010, in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Christopher Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Angels Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service on Thursday, December 16, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m.
