Elizabeth Bowen Richardson, 85, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., died December 9, 2008. A native of Giles County, Va., she was born on July 10, 1923 to parents, Alonzo and Morris St. Clair Bowen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald McNamara Richardson and daughter, Celeste St. Clair Richardson.

She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sue Bowen; and brother, Lewis A. Bowen, of Blacksburg Va. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, James A. Slice, Jr., of Oak Ridge.

She graduated as valedictorian from Pembroke VA High School. In 1944 she graduated with a degree in History from Roanoke College and began her career in Oak Ridge. After holding various positions, she completed her career as administrative assistant to Dr. Alvin Weinberg, Director of Oak Ridge National Laboratory. After retirement she was employed at various local firms. She was a caring and giving person, involved in several local organizations.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Weatherford Mortuary from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., with a memorial service following at 7:30 p.m. Dwight Henry will officiate.
