Rhudy, Ercell Ryan

Ercell Christine Ryan Rhudy, of Pulaski, Va., born January 31, 1921, died March 20, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. (Bill) Rhudy Jr.; her parents, Thomas and Luther Victoria Ryan; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Glenn Porter, Zoee and Tom Stone, Elva Brockmeyer and Lotus and J.C. Fudge; and nephew, Mike Stone. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jeff Bain; and granddaughters, Erin Bain and Dr. Ellen Bain. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Dr. Milton Brockmeyer and Greer Matthews; her nieces and nephews, Wally Brockmeyer, Carolyn Willaman, Dianne Brockmeyer, Thomas Stone, Martha Lyn Wilson, Kent Hambrick and Irene Olson; and devoted caretaker, Kathy Hilliard. Ercell grew up in Bluefield and Byllesby before moving to Pulaski with her family. She was working as a hairdresser when she met and married Bill. After the birth of Susan, Ercell became a fulltime homemaker and enjoyed her life as a farmer’s wife and a mother. Later in life, she treasured the time spent with Susan, Jeff, Erin and Ellen. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pulaski, Va., with the Rev. Terrie Sternberg and the Rev. Gene Copenhaver officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, March 22, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O.
