Mae Meeker Rhoads, age 96, of Dublin, passed away Monday, April 11th at her residence after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County Georgia and daughter of the late John Riley Meeker and Mamie Smith Meeker.

Mae was preceded in death by her husband George James Rhoads, daughter Dr. Gail Stone, a sister Elizabeth Clyburn and a brother John Riley Meeker. She was a Telephone Operator at the Alma Telephone Company and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford.

Survivors include a son, James Riley (Sandy) Rhoads and wife Deborah of Dublin; two grandchildren, George James Rhoads (Nadia) of Jacksonville, Fla. and Leigh Strelka (Tommy) of Roanoke; two great-grandchildren, Vivienne and Griffith Strelka of Roanoke; sister in law, Beatrice Roppe Rhoads of Jacksonville, Fla.; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 15th at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home in Alma, Ga. with Rev. Ersell Alderman officiating. Interment followed in Wesley Chapel Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral prior to the service.

Crosby Funeral Home in Alma, Ga., and Mullins Funeral Home in Radford were in charge of arrangements.
