Everett Gray Reed, Sr., 81, of Dublin, passed away Monday, November 20, 2006 when God needed another angel. He was born in Montgomery County the son of the late Lonnie Everett and Pearly Jarrels Reed.

He was a loving and gentle man who never met a stranger. He was a long-time member of the Duncan Chapel Church of the Brethren and a retired employee of Federal Mogul.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of more than 29 years, Etta Mae Reed of Dublin; sons and daughters-in-law, Everett, Jr. and Nokey Reed of Pulaski; John H. and Roxie Reed of Radford; daughters and sons-in-law, Pearl and Rudolph Quesenberry of Willis, and Brenda and Claude Wilson of Dublin; stepdaughters, Wanda Reed and special friend David Burton, and Roxie Reed; eight grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Roxie Akers of Christiansburg; Toye Owens of Hopewell and Elsie Altizer of Pulaski. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive him. He had many special friends and co-workers from Carnation Milk Company and Federal Mogul and other neighbors and friends too numerous to mention.

The family wishes to thank Social Service, Skyline Manor’s C Wing staff, the Doctors and Nurses at Carilion NRVMC, especially second shift surgical wing for making him Comfortable; Dr. Jamison and staff. Walk softly with God, Dad, we love you!

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Funeral services will conducted two days later due to the holiday Friday, November 24, 2006 at 1 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in Farris Cemetery, Riner.
