Annie Martin Reed, 101, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 13, 2007. She was born Martha Anne Reed in Floyd County, Virginia on January 10, 1906. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Raymond Reed; and three brothers, Eldridge Martin, Luther Martin and Albert Martin.

She is survived by her son, Raymond Odell Reed and his wife Jean of Roanoke; two granddaughters, Mary Reed Smith and her husband Steven Smith of Bridgewater, New Jersey, and Robin Anne Reed of Washington, D.C.; and two great-grandsons, Matthew Steven Smith, 3 and Joshua Reed Smith, 2, and many neighbors and friends.

Annie Reed spent her entire life in Floyd County and lived most of her life in the house where she grew up. She was known as “Miss Annie” to her neighbors and friends. She was a lifelong member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Annie Reed had a strong faith and lived a long life. She was an inspiration to others through her devotion to her church and her love of family, neighbors and friends.

Funeral Service will be Friday, 11 a.m., March 16, 2007 at Salem Church (Head of the River) Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Larry Hollandsworth and Elder Junior Conner, officiating. Interment will be in the Restvale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home in Floyd.
