Reece, Lonnie Irving

Lonnie Irving, 74, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at his home. He was born in Carroll County, Va. on August 22, 1933 to the late Estel and Louise Frazier Reece and was also preceded in death by a sister Elsie Owen; a brother, Gladden Reece; an infant brother; and step daughter, Deborah L. Wilson.

Lonnie was a long haul truck driver for over 30 years having traveled all 48 states. Lonnie was also a dedicated and avid golfer, member of American Legion Post #7 Pulaski, and was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Lydia Smith Reece of Christiansburg; stepsons and daughter-in-law, Frank M. Wilson and wife, Sharon, of Cincinnati, Ohio and Eric P. Wilson of Roanoke; sister, Olivia Manning of Pulaski; brother, Naman Reece of Florida; three step grandchildren, Erica Williams and husband, Jeremy, of Christiansburg, Kealy Wilson of Roanoke and Taylor Joseph Smith of New Haven, Conn.; three step great-grandchildren, Madison, Oakley and Rally Williams of Christiansburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Judy Younce officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Christiansburg. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg, Va.
