Reece Jr., James O.

James O. (Jim) Reece Jr., 64, of Clover Hollow Road, Newport, Va., departed this life Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem after battling with lung cancer. Born in Welch, W.Va. on September 12, 1945, he was a son of the late James O. Reece Sr. and Betty Cook Reece Busby. He realized his life’s dream of becoming a Master Chef after a career in trucking and construction. He had served as Chef at Mt. Lake Hotel and The Inn at Virginia Tech. He was never happier than when he was riding his Harley-Davidson with the wind whipping around him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Bonnie Kay Fetzer Reece. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons and daughters-in-law, “Jimmy Joe” and Tammy Reece, of Newport, and Troy Anthony and Cathy Reece, of Newport; his brother, Thomas Benson Reece, of Ft. Myers Beach, Fla.; his five grandchildren; his great-grandchild; and his cousin, Martha Stewart, and her family of Eggleston. A memorial service will be conducted at the residence at 411 Clover Hollow Road, Newport, with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating, Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is serving the Reece Family.
