Ratliff, Hubert Edwards

Hubert Edwards Ratliff, 79, of Christiansburg, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Mr. Ratliff was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Cambria, and a retired employee of Norfolk and Southern Railways after forty one years of service.

The son of the late Luther and Nellie Ratliff, he was also preceded in death by his son, Clayton Edward Ratliff. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ratliff; sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Selina Ratliff, and Tim and Cathy Ratliff, all of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Travis and his wife, Alexis Ratliff, Amanda, Kristin and Stephanie; and one great grandchild, Anderson Clay Ratliff. He is also survived by his sisters, Lillian Wood and Mildred Ligon, both of Salem; brothers, Melvin Ratliff, of Ironto, and Billy Ratliff, of Riner; and special friend, Johnny Grubb, of Christiansburg. Mr. Ratliff is also survived by his stepchildren, Julian Duncan, of Elliston, Renay Moore, of Blacksburg, Dora and her husband, Steve Bishop, of Salem, and Mark and his wife, Dawn Duncan, of Salem. Seven step grandchildren also survive.

The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home on Friday, May 2, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, with the Rev. Dusty Etter officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
