Ratcliffe, Charlie Bryant
Charlie Bryant Ratcliffe, 82, of Radford, Va., passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at the residence of his daughter, Janie R. Fralin. Born on December 10, 1926, he was the son of William Columbus Ratcliffe and Clara Bryant Ratcliffe.
He was a proud member of the Graduating Class of 1944 of Radford High School, a retired steelworker and a Veteran.
Surviving are daughters, Ann Hunt and husband, Ted, of Anderson, S.C., and Janie Fralin, of Roanoke; sons, Charlie B. Ratcliffe Jr. and wife, Sonya, of Wirtz, Stedman E. “Teddy” Ratcliffe, of Hardy, John W. “Billy” Ratcliffe and wife, Hazel, of Boones Mill, Gary C. Ratcliffe and wife, Sandra, of Roanoke, and Barry J. Ratcliffe, of Westlake Village, Ca.; a special friend, Mike Hopkins, of the home; 10 grandchildren, Heather Feldbauer, of Piedmont, S.C., Whitney Hunt, of Columbia, S.C., Tonya Allen, of Andover, Kan., Patricia Wilderson, of Champaign, Ill., Robbie Rorke, of Lexington, S.C., Travis S. Ratcliffe, Justin S. Ratcliffe, and Sabrina Ratcliffe, all of Roanoke, Christy Callister, of Victoria, Australia, and Brad Fralin, of Asheville, N.C.; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Carter Street United Methodist Church in Radford.
In lieu of flowers, a love donation may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice of Roanoke, Radford American Legion, V.F.W. #776 or a Veterans organization of choice.
