Ratcliff, Douglas Lee

Douglas Lee Ratcliff, 79, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Richfield Nursing Center. He was born in Christiansburg on May 29, 1927 to the late Merfie Lee and Clara Bell Hunter Ratcliff. Mr. Ratcliff was retired from the Virginia Tech Airport after over 45 years of service and had also worked at Burruss Hall.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie Sue Ratcliff, of Blacksburg; two daughters, Wanda Gail Ratcliff, Dianne Flinchum and son-in-law William Flinchum, all of Blacksburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Rosemary Ratcliff of Christiansburg; sister, Mamie Sue Ratcliff of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Michael Ratcliff and wife Kristy of Pembroke, Stephen Ratcliff and wife Heather of Christiansburg; great-grandchildren, Zachery Ratcliff and Zyler Ratcliff.

The family would like to thank the 4th floor East nursing staff at Richfield, and a special thanks to the Lawrence and Ball families.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 12, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Silvia and Jim Holt officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Sunday, and his family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg, Va.
