Ramey, Frances Calloway

Frances Calloway Ramey was born June 21, in White Thorn, Va., (Montgomery County) to the late Gentle Lynn Calloway and Malaka Campbell Calloway. Frances departed this life on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Frances married the late Robert Ramey of Max Meadows, Va. on July 16, 1955. From this union three children were born, Harold T., Ramey, Brenda R. Wright, and the late Wayne Ramey. She was preceded in death by one sister, Corrine Baker; two brothers, Clarence Calloway and George Calloway; a grandmother, Mary Calloway; and two aunts, Belle Mae Campbell Thomas and Cornelia Campbell Pilkington.

Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Harold T. (Valerie) Ramey of Christiansburg, Va.; a daughter, Brenda R. (Don) of Cary, N.C.; a grandson, Jason Wright of Cary, N.C.; a granddaughter, Rolayne (Beckins) (Al) Taylor of Fort Wayne, Ind.; six greatgrandchildren, Corrie, Jamie, Alison, Andrew, Matthew, and Michael Taylor; three brothers, Melvin (Dina) Calloway of Alexandria, Va., James Calloway (Eliete) Calloway of Alexandria, Va., and William B. (Mary) of Christiansburg, Va.; and two sisters, Catherine Calloway of Alexandria, Va., and Barbara Calloway of Alexandria, Va.; and two sisters-in-laws, Louvinia (George) Calloway and Ernestine (Clarence) Calloway both of Alexandria, Va.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Frances was a loyal and dedicated member of the Greater Mt. Zion United Holiness Church of Christiansburg, Va. She was a Deaconess and directed the church’s Food Service Program. Frances also did outreach and assistance for several residents of the Heritage Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Frances will be remembered for her love of family, friends and all who touched her life. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at 2 p.m. at The Greater Mt. Zion United Holiness Church, 385 Depot Street, Christiansburg, Va. The Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m.. until the time for service at the church. The burial will follow the service at the Schaeffer Memorial Cemetery, Christiansburg, Va. Penn’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
