Raines, Ruth Mann

Ruth Mann Raines, 86, of Rich Creek, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke. Born on April 17, 1927, at Bozoo, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Clarence Richard Mann and the late Gladys Pearl McClaugherty Hall. Ruth was a homemaker and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rich Creek.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Irvin Hall; her loving husband of over 57 years, Sherman D. Raines; and a brother, David Richard Mann. Survivors include one son, S.D. Raines Jr. and wife, Barb, of Ripplemeade; daughter, Debbie Martin and husband, Donnie, of Newport; grandchildren, Jeffrey Raines, Billy, Donnie Wayne II, and Amy Martin; great- grandchildren, Alexis, Elle Mae, Sophie, and William Jackson Martin; brothers- in-law, Lonnie Raines, of Richmond, and Narvell Raines, of Wirtz; and sisters-in-law, Lurie Bailey and husband, Clyde, of Richmond, and Eva Mann, of Peterstown, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church of Rich Creek with the Rev. Doug Hyndrich and the Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rich Creek. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
