Raines, Judy Smith

Judy Smith Raines, 72, of Newport, died Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at her home. She was born in Pembroke, Va. on August 18, 1943 to the late Eria Augustus and Lilly Hare Smith. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Linda Radford; brothers, Jerry, Calvin, Lynwood, Donald and Eria “Stink” Smith.She is survived by her husband, Ronald H. “Joe” Raines; daughter, Mitzi Cumbee and Darrill Radford; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Michelle Raines, all of Newport; grandchild, Cassidy Raines, affectionately known to her as “Granny’s woman”; sisters, Margaret Price, of Pembroke, Bonnie Mitchem, of Blacksburg, numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016 in the Level Green Christian Church Cemetery, Newport. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the Level Green Christian Church prior to the service. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
