John Junior Raines, 80, of Lafayette, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 4, 2006. John was a retired employee from Lynchburg Foundry, Radford and he attended the Wabun Congregational Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Vergie Raines; two brothers, Eldridge and Ralph Raines, and two granddaughters, Chelsea Raines and Julie Early. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 53 years, Mildred Wickline Raines; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Danny Lowe of Christiansburg; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Becky Raines of Lafayette; Donnie and Peggy Raines of Radford; Johnnie and Evelyn Raines of McCoy; Lonnie and Donna Raines of Shawsville; six loving grandchildren, Michael Raines, Travis Lowe and wife, Jamie; Jennifer Raines and fianc? Jamie Harris; Chad Raines, Courtney Raines, Chucky Early; one greatgranddaughter, Kyrstin Lowe and great-grandson, Bradley Early; one brother and two sisters, Bobby Raines, Alma Martin and Beatrice Williams.

The family wishes to thank George and Betty Dunn and Hospice for their help during John’s illness. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2006, at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Shepherd of Wabun Congregational Holiness Church officiating.

Interment will follow in the Peterstown Cemetery in West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Shawsville Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 14, Shawsville, Va. 24162 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
