Ragland, Olene Bishop

Olene Nolting Bishop Ragland, age 83, of Blacksburg, formerly of Madison Heights, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. She was born in Buckingham County, Virginia on August 12, 1930 to the late Samuel Winston and Viola Maria Payne Bishop.

She is also preceded in death by her husband Robert Lewis Ragland, Jr.; brothers, William, Roy, Melvin, Earl, Austin, and Kenneth Bishop; sisters, Virginia Wilkerson, Fannie Bishop, Annie Bishop and Ruth Hoitt. She is survived by her daughter, Robbie Jones and husband, Joseph of Christiansburg, Rhonda Ragland Robbins of Madison Heights; brother, Dean Bishop of Richmond; grandchildren, Steven (Desiree), Jessica, Emily, Casey (April), Laura, Logan (Mandy), Jacob; great-grandchildren, Jailynn, Sophia, Ryland, Khloe, Ryder; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 7 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Shepherd and Rev. Jube Burk officiating and Thursday, August 7, 2014 at noon in the Madison Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Blake officiating. The family will receive friends a hour before the service. Interment will follow in the Fort Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Lynchburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
