Radford, Mary Elizabeth (Pee Wee)

Mary Elizabeth (Pee Wee) Radford, 77, of Pembroke, Va., departed this life on Tuesday morning, February 8, 2011, at her home and in the loving care of her family. Born in Pembroke on January 18, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert L. and Nannie Price Kanode. She was a graduate of Pembroke High School, Class of 1952, a retired lab technician at RAAP, owner and operator of East End Sandwich Shop in Pembroke, and a member of Pembroke First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Bill Kanode. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 57 years, Donald Lee Radford; her sons, Donald Lynn “Lynnie” and his wife, Patsy Meredith Radford, of Pembroke, and Timothy Lee Radford, of Pembroke; her grandchildren, Sherry Leigh and her husband, Chris Townsend, Shaun Meredith and Brittany Radford, Ashley Brooke Radford, and Nicci Meredith; her greatgrandchildren, Jacob Townsend, Emilee Townsend, and Kendall Radford; her sister, Nancy Hendrickson, of Flint, Mich.; and her canine buddy, Brandy. At Pee Wee’s request family memorial services will be private at a later date. The family requests that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to Pembroke First United Methodist Church of The Giles County Animal Shelter.
