Puckett, Phyllis Cox

Phyllis Cox Puckett, 71, of 2216 North Greenwood Drive, Johnson City, Tenn., died late Monday night, December 22, 2008, in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in West Virginia on March 26, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Garver Cox and Elsie Waller Cox.

Mrs. Puckett worked in Pulaski for Dr. R.O. Smith for several years.

Surviving are her husband, James Puckett, of Johnson City, Tenn.; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Keith Gargus, of Charlotte, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Marcus and Susan Puckett, of Jonesborough, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Kenton, Eliza, and Nola Marie; sisters, Teresa Jones, of Pulaski, Va., Dorothy Brookman, of Naples, Fla., and Nancy Altizer, of Pulaski, Va.; brothers, Howard Cox, of Strongsville, Ohio, and Elwood Cox, of Naples, Fla.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008, from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Aikens officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski. Visiting will be held on Friday evening, December 26, 2008, at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
