pruett virgie lucilleVirgie Lucille Pruett, 79, of Narrows, passed away Wednesday, February, 13, 2013, at her home following an eight year long battle with cancer. Born October 2, 1933, at Austinsville, she was the daughter of the late Harry Maynard and Laura Belle Davis Surratt. Lucille was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ of Narrows. She was retired from the Celenese Corp. Lucille was an awesome cook and loved to provide food for her church and family. She would prepare enough food during the holidays to feed a small army of people. She was always making cakes and pies for her friends. Her delicious meals will be missed by all. Lucille always took great pride in working in her yard with all of her flowers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Dickie Surratt; and one sister, Laverne Lester. Survivors include two sons, Rick Pruett and wife, Sandy, and David Pruett, all of Narrows; one daughter, Laura Reed and husband, Jeff, of Bland; one brother, Mickey Surratt and wife, Edith, of Fincastlel; two sisters, Minnie Belle Warner and Fran Caldwell, both of Narrows; eight grandchildren, Chad Pruett, Heath Hyatt and wife, Lyndsay, Heather Krienbring and husband, Koby, Holly Hyatt and fiance, Joey Powell, Bryan Pruett and wife, Kelly, Ethan and Ian Reed and Ashley Blankenship; and five great-grandchildren, Maddie, Hattie, Gavin, Kolier and Cannan; several nieces and nephews. At Lucille’s request her body was donated to science. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2013, at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ at Narrows.
