price evelyn linkousEvelyn Linkous Price, 94, of Norris Run, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. She was born in Montgomery County September 4, 1918, to the late Ward and Cynthia Etta Smith Linkous; and was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Henry E. Price; two sons, Oakley A. Price and Bernard A. Price; five brothers, Lacy, Brady, David, Buford and Samuel Linkous; two sisters, Arbelia Linkous Price and Nellie Linkous Rogers; three stepbrothers, Ward Jr., Winfred and Charles Linkous; one stepsister, Virginia Linkous Blackwell. Evelyn is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Harold E. and Shirley Price, of Haymarket,, Jimmie L. and Betty S. Price, of Blacksburg, Douglas W. and Hazel L. “Penny” Price, of Blacksburg, and Charlie D. and Pam Price, of Radford; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; stepbrothers, Robert and Mary Lee Linkous, Wilber G. (Buddy) Linkous; stepsister, Viola Norfleet; sister-in-law, Annie Lee Linkous Lawson; many special nieces and nephews. She was a born-again Christian from the age of 15 and a charter member of The Sunnyside Pentecostal Holiness Church built in 1946. Evelyn was a strong, hard-working Christian and The Spiritual Leader of the Price home along with her husband, Henry. She was a role model for her six sons, saying “you can do anything you see me do. You can say anything you hear me say”. Evelyn’s last employment was as a custodian at Virginia Tech where she retired with 14 years of service. A million thanks to the staff at Heritage Hall, to Dr. Michael Payne and his staff, and the staff at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Bobby Fuller officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. Flowers would be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Friends may call any time after noon Friday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., SW, Blacksburg.
