Price, Dorothy Hutchison

Doritha Rozetta Hutchison Price “Dorothy” also known as Granny to many, 88 of Mays Hollow in Pembroke departed this life April 18, 2023 in the care of her family. Born April 10, 1935 in Craig County she was a daughter of Henry Hutchison and Alberta Caldwell Hutchison.

Dorothy never met a stranger and loved all who came through her doors. She first loved to spoil her family; whether she was spending time with them or was playing the role of judge at all of the family events. In addition to her own 10 children, she raised many children who weren’t her own setting an example of life for all who loved her. She found solace in listening to Alan Jackson and respite in the challenge of working puzzle books.

In addition to her parents Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, “Bill” Price; daughters, Connie Athey, and Barbara Johnson; son, Joseph Vanburen Price; sister, Louise Woods and Reba Link; and brothers, Roy Hutchison, and Daniel Hutchison.

Left to cherish her memory to their hearts are her sons, Robert “Bobby” Price (Kay) of Pearisburg, Davy Lee Price of Narrows, HC Price (Cheryl) of Pembroke, and Timothy Dale Price of Christiansburg, VA; daughters, Peggy Poff (Terry) of Elliston, VA, Pamela Bryant of Roanoke, and Tammy Hudson of Pembroke; sisters-in-law, Eva Price, and Shirley Price; daughter-in-law, Kathy Price; grandchildren, Cristy Justus, Ronnie Williams, Teresa Wilson, Chad Price, Travis Price, Amanda Tickle, Davy Allen Price, Casey Price, Ashley Myers-Neice, Anthony Price, Crystal Criner, Jesse Hudson, Joshua Hudson, Damian Price Goad, Chasity Brown, Chris Bryant, Kim Johnson, and Marlena Clark; 30 great grandchildren; over 10 great-great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.

The Family would like to extend sincere appreciation to Caregivers Tory Waller, and daughter in laws Cheryl Price and Kathy Price. Carilion Ambulance Service Dr. Issac Spence and staff, and congregations of faith at Castle Rock Baptist Church, Riverview Baptist Church, and New Life Harvest Church.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM in Riverview Baptist Church with a funeral service conducted immediately after at 3:00 PM with Pastor Gary Poff, Pastor Shahn Wilburn, and Timmy Dale Price officiating.
