Prescott, John Anthony

John Anthony Prescott, age 68 of Rich Creek, passed away Friday August 26, 2011, at his home, after a long battle with cancer. Born December 24, 1942 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late John Arthur and Lenore Mary Dunne Prescott. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Prescott.

Mr. Prescott retired from the United States Marine Corps., in 1980, after 30 years service, with the rank of MSGT, and from the Minnesota State Patrol in 1997.

Survivors include his wife Nancy Dillon Prescott of the home, two sons, John and Kim Prescott, David and Paula Prescott; three daughters, Dawn and Michael Bates, Kim and Phillip Woodyard, and Victoria and Peter Stenzel; two brothers, Paul Prescott, Mark and Cathy Prescott; one sister, Susan Prescott; nine grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday August 29, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, Rich Creek, VA., with Rev. Doug Hyndrich and Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow at the Peterstown Cemetery, with military rites by Pembroke VFW Post 311, Narrows VFW Post 6000, Narrows American Legion Post 68, and Peterstown Rowe Jones Post 145. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday August 28, 2011 at the Broyles- Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown, WV., and at the church one hour prior to the services.
