Preihs, Frieda Beatty

Frieda Ellen Beatty Preihs passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on December 19th, 2022. Frieda was born September 30th, 1928 in Olney, Illinois to Lloyd and Lucille Beatty.

She graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in 1951. She then earned her teaching certificate at University of Illinois in 1953. She later received a Master of Science from James Madison University in Virginia as a Reading Specialist. She taught school in Illinois for 19 years. After moving to Virginia in 1975, she taught in Culpeper County Schools for 20 years. After retiring from public education, she still continued to tutor many elementary students in reading.

Frieda is preceded in death by her husband John Carl Preihs, her 2 brothers Charles Lloyd Beatty, Jr, Robert Owen Beatty, and her sister Barbara Ann Beatty Royer. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Preihs Austin of Christiansburg, VA, and her son Robert Carl Preihs of Islamorada, FL, 12 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Rosamond, Illinois at the Rosemond Grove Cemetery in April
