Pratt, Lawrence Vell

Lawrence Vell Pratt, 83, of Floyd County, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 7, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. and Inez Mize Pratt; his wife, Gearldine Alderman Pratt; two brothers, Elwood Pratt, Brown Pratt; two sisters, Lois Gibbs, Nellie Janney.

Surviving are two sons, Michael and wife, Linda of Roanoke, Richard and wife, Janet of Martinsville; one granddaughter, Amanda Sowers and husband, Joshua of Floyd; one greatgranddaughter, Joselyn Grace Sowers of Floyd; and many nieces and nephews.

Lawrence retired in 1985 after 39 years of service with Virginia Dept. of Highways. He was also a faithful member of the Floyd Church of the Nazarene.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 9, 2006 at 4:30 p.m. at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd. Burial will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery, Floyd with Military Rites by Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854 and American Legion Post #127. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 8, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd, 745-2121.
