Powers, Jr., Gilmer Edward

Gilmer Edward (GE) Powers, Jr., 84, of Christiansburg, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012. GE was preceded in death by his parents, Gilmer, Sr. and Cornelia Bailey Powers; his wife, Barbara Burke Powers; his children, Dudley, Linda and Danny; and a great-grandson, Malaki Frith.

He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Pam & Mark Frith of Christiansburg; granddaughters, Jennifer Frith of Blacksburg, Lynda & Lee Hawley of Christiansburg and Rachel Frith of San Diego; great-grandchildren, Stacie Frith, Christopher Haywood, Aniyah Frith, Trey Hawley and Dawson Hawley; brothers, Novis & Judy Powers and Duford & Linda Powers; plus numerous other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 15, 2012, from 5-8 pm at the Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012, at 11 am at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following at Belmont Cemetery.
