Porterfield, William (Bud) Sheridan

William (Bud) Sheridan Porterfield, 80, of Blacksburg, died Monday, December 6, 2011, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Selma, Va., October 15, 1931, to the late William Lewis and Florence Wren Porterfield. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Nellie (Dee) Janey and Leathia Atkins; brother, Lewis Linden Porterfield. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Steve Shaver, of Chesterfield; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Deborah Porterfield, of Christiansburg; two grandchildren, Rachel Shaver and Grayson Porterfield; sister, Jane Janey Murley, of Blacksburg. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2011, in the Newport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Virginia, 5001 W. Broad Street, Suite 217, Richmond, VA 23230.
