Jimmie Lee Porter, 68, of Austinville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born November 11, 1942, son of the late Lawrence H. and Dora Lowe Porter and was preceded in death by his brother, Chitwood Porter and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Paul and Willie Lephew.

Jim had delivered the Roanoke Times for 32 years for part of Wythe County and Hillsville and knew his customers’ names and appreciated each one. He was an avid car sales person for John Fox, Tommy Dunn, Huff Ford and Jeff Johnson.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Suzetta Lephew Porter; his devoted sons, James P. Porter of Austinville, Rev. Todd Porter and wife, Tammy, of the Piney community, Shaine Porter of Matney Flats community, Samuel Paul Lephew of Austinville; special granddaughter, the light of his life, Montana Arnold and husband, Chad, of Jonesboro, Tenn.; sister, Gay Sisk of Austinville; niece, Judy Reese and husband, Tommy; nephew, Billy Porter and wife, Jenny; and two special brothers-in-law, Paul Lephew and Joyce Hawkins of Wytheville, Samuel Lee Lephew of Austinville.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Austinville Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Reverend Sam Shelton, Rev. Terry Eversole and Rev. Todd Porter officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany UMC Cemetery. Jim will be taken to the Austinville P. H. Church where the family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 8 p. m.
