Margie Gleaves Pope, 80, of Radford, Va., died on Monday, September 17, 2007 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.

She was born in Adolph, W.Va. on December 26, 1926, a daughter of the late French and Hazel Chewning. She graduated from Elkins High School in Elkins W.Va.

On November 21, 1953, she married William Pope Jr., who survives. She is also survived by sister, June Grimm and husband of Kerens, W.Va. and sister, Delma Miller and husband of Elkins, W.Va. Also surviving are two sons, Michael Sainato and wife of Allen Park Mich. and William Pope, III of Calif.; daughter, Karen Wilson and husband of Radford, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of seven and greatgrandmother of eight.

Margie was a loving, devoted, wife and mother whose kind heart and generosity knew no limits. She chose to continue her generosity by making an anatomical gift to Lifenet of VA. and The Medical Education and Research Institute of Memphis, Tenn. Her family is extremely proud of her legacy. She will be sorely missed.

Joseph Downing, Dr. Tina Smusz, the staff of the Progressive Care Unit, Margaret Shivley, Chaplain Jonathan Webster and intern, Chaplain John LeMasters and the staff and volunteers of Carilion Hospice of Radford, and the staff of the Radford Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.

The care given to Margie was exemplary and the kindness shown to our family will never be forgotten. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
