Johnsie Horton Poole, 87, of Christiansburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
She was born in Hillsville, Va. on November 27, 1929. She was eleventh out of a family of twelve. She married her husband, Lloyd Poole, in 1956 and they were married for fifty-six happy years.

She was secretary for Personnel and Office Manager at Burlington Industries in Radford for thirteen years, the Assistant to Personnel at Poly Scientific for two years, and finally got the job she had always wanted – a job at Radford University. She was hired as the Office Manager in the processing area for the Admissions Office. What a surprise it was to her when, one year later, she won the President’s Award. She continued her work at Radford University for twenty-five years and then retired. Her last job was a part-time position at Garrett’s and Meg’s specialty clothing store in downtown Radford, for about eight to nine years.
She loved to sing and loved to invite people in her home for a meal. She was saved many years ago at the East Radford Baptist Church. She was currently a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Christiansburg.
