poindexter_emma_mae.jpgEmma Mae Poindexter, 86, of Pulaski, Va., passed away peacefully in her sleep at Catonsville Commons Nursing Home, Catonsville, Md., on Thursday, October 16, 2009. Her mother, Lucy McClanahan; along with her stepfather, Emmit Reynolds; husband, Forest Poindexter; and son, David Poindexter Sr. have preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Lucy Brown, Patricia Tunstall, both of Baltimore, Md., Lillie Smith, of Mt. Poconos, Pa., Raymond Poindexter, of Newark, N.J., Ronald (Rhonda) Poindexter, of Blacksburg, Va., Carolyn Adams, of Beaumont, Calif., Robert (Stephanie) Poindexter, of Richmond, Va., Sammy (Ellen) Poindexter, of Dublin, Va., Tammy Poindexter McKoy, of Owings Mills, Md., and Gary Poindexter Redd, of Pulaski, Va.; grandchildren; greatgrandchildren; great-greatgrandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009, at Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leroy Henry officiating and the Rev. Gary Hash delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Friends may call at Serenity on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, from noon to 8 p.m. for viewing and on Thursday beginning at noon at the church until the funeral hour. Interment will be held in Highland Memory Gardens and Sunrise Burial Park.
