Pinson, Kathryn (Spears)

Sarah Kathryn (Spears) Pinson, 81, of Willis, passed away in her home Wednesday, May 18, 2016.

Originally from Floyd County, Ky., she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Larry Douglas, and is survived by her children, Earl Douglas and his wife, Marcella, Sharon Kay Honaker, Leigh Anna and her husband, Matt Wilkins; and her ten grandchildren, Kalin, Daniel, Katie, Corrie, Melinda, Emily, Heather, Benjamin, Courtney, and Shannon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Ballard and Lottie Mae Spears and her siblings Arthur, Victor, and Lola Clark. She is survived by her siblings, James Russell, Burnis, Anna Justus, Wayne, Della Jackson, Linda Salisbury, Kanova Sue Kingsley, Deborah Hunt and their families.

She earned her nursing certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at Pikeville Methodist Hospital and Dixie Hospital (later Hampton General Hospital). She had a great love for children and would say her greatest accomplishment was the rearing and education of her three children.

Sarah Kathryn was a member of the Radford Church of Christ in Radford, Va. and a former member at the Denbigh Boulevard Church of Christ in Newport News, Va.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, Va. and again from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Lucas & Sons Funeral Home in Pikeville, Ky. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Lucas & Sons Funeral Home in Pikeville, Ky. at the Spears Family Cemetery in Harold, Ky. with the interment following the service.
