Pierce, Cheyenne Elizabeth

Cheyenne Elizabeth Pierce, 16, of Pilot, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009. She attended Floyd County High School, where she was a drum major. Cheyenne had a great love for music and she played numerous instruments, including her favorite instrument, the flute. She made all District Band. She was a gifted writer and won the National History Day Competition two years ago for the State of Virginia. She also loved to write poetry. Cheyenne was a member of Huffville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her parents, Graham and Dee Pierce; maternal grandmother, Kassy Ewell; paternal grandmother, Ann Pierce; godparents, Nancy and Mike DeJarnette; uncle and aunt, Farest and Catherine Pierce; greataunt, Jeanette Phipps.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Huffville United Methodist Church with Pastor Darren Landon officiating. Interment will follow at the Huffville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday June 29, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
