Picarella, Shirley Farley

Shirley Ann Farley Picarella, R.N., age 71, died Sunday morning, January 19, 2014. She was the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tyler Glenn Farley, Sr., and the daughter of Tyler Glenn Farley, Jr. all of Pearisburg, Virginia.

She was a descendant of a large British family dating to the 1300’s, commemorated by Farley Memorial Wayside in Giles County, Virginia, and recognized by the Daughters of the American Revolution. She retired as a long-term employee of Carilion and most recently served in the capacity of Clinical Resource Nurse prior to retirement.

She is survived by one son, Gregory Kyle Picarella of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and one grandson, Joseph Gregory Picarella.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
