phillips wayne edwardWayne Edward Phillips, 71, of Willis, went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ Monday, May 6, 2013. He was an avid builder, woodworker, and owner of Phillips Brothers Builders, a company that was founded by his father and uncles. He also enjoyed working in the garden and yard work alongside his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Nannie Phillips, of Willis; brother, Joe Phillips, of Indian Valley; nephew, Andrew Phillips, of Christiansburg; and a niece, Vickie Phillips Belcher, of Indian Valley. He is survived by his son, Lonnie and Donna Phillips Sr.; daughter, Victoria Harris and J.R. Ferguson, all of Willis; nine grandchildren, Tabatha Thomas, Victor Quesenberry, Aaron Duncan, Samantha Phillips, Tyler Quesenberry, Taylor Duncan, Logan Quesenberry, Lonnie Phillips Jr., and Peyton Harris, all of Willis; one great-granddaughter, Chloe Thomas; two brothers, Nelson and Geila Phillips, of Indian Valley, Tobias and Kathy Phillips, of Pearisburg; uncle and aunts, Elza and Helen Phillips, of South Mount, and Mozell Phillips, of Willis; special friends, Steven and Hazel Harman, of Christiansburg; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thomas C. Pegram and Elder Lowell Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Indian Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the church.
