phillips leora marshallLeora Marshall Phillips, 93 of Willis, went home to be with her Lord, surrounded by family while at home, on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar & Essie Marshall; brothers, James, Howard, and Rollie Marshall; one sister, Eunice Marshall Phillips; and one grandson, Daniel Westley McPeak. She was a loving wife to Orland for 66 years, and mother to four daughters. She enjoyed her many grandchildren. She was an active member of Old Brick Presbyterian Church where she faithfully attended and sang in the choir. She loved working with her hands, quilting, knitting, and crocheting. She sold her handmade items at the Floyd Craft Show for about 25 years. Her testimony was, “I live for God, you live for God.” She spent her last days praying for her family and singing “Amazing Grace.” She is survived by her husband, Orland Westley Phillips; daughters & sons-in-law, Geneva & Reece McPeak, Jr., Mary & Roy Hodge, Nora & Roy Junior Bentley, Paulette & Mike Gardner; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; brother & sisters-in-law, Marvin & Virginia Marshall, Sylvia Marshall, Mary Marshall; sister, Oleda Kenley; very special niece, Barbara Reynolds; special neighbor and friend, Steve Wickline; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Leo Phillips, Pastor Kathy Hull, and Pastor Roy Bentley officiating. Interment to follow in the Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the funeral home.
