John David Phillips, Sr., 75, of Radford, Va., passed away early Tuesday morning, October 30, 2007 in the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Salem, Va. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He also served as a deacon and faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church prior to his illness.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Edith Helm Phillips; his wife of 50 years, Elnora J. Phillips; four brothers; and three sisters.

He is survived by two sons, John David Phillips, Jr. (Jane Nichols), Nashville, Tenn. and Terry Wayne (Connie) Phillips, Radford, Va.; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Loren Phillips, Radford, Va.; one sister, Irene (Booker T.) Foggy, San Francisco, Calif.; one brother, Lewis (Bernice) Phillips, Bridgeton, N.J.; one brother-in-law, Samuel (Roberta) Johnson, Keystone, W.Va.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 910 W. Rock Road, Radford, Va. with the Rev. Eric T. Ramey officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, Dublin, Va.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 12 noon at Zion Hill Baptist Church or at the Phillips’ residence anytime. Arrangements are provided by Penn’s Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va.
