Phillips, Joe Orval

Joe Orval Phillips, age 72, of Max Meadows, died, Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at his home. He was born in Christiansburg, VA on October 12, 1948 to the late Holly Orval and Nadene McCoy Phillips. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Leo Phillips.

He retired from Wythe County Public Schools and was the Pastor at Riverhill First Christian Church for four and a half years. Joe was a US Army veteran of Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janey Mabe Phillips; daughter and son-in-law, Yonda and Craig Basford; sons and daughter-in-law, Jack Lane, Tony and Laura Jo Phillips; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Justine Ramsey and Jackie Bianco.

A private graveside service will be held. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
