phillips_gertrude_flinchumGertrude Ann Flinchum Phillips, 81, of Christiansburg, Va., went to her heavenly Father, Saturday October 30, 2010. She was a member of Indian Valley Presbyterian Church, an active member of Montgomery Co. RSVP and brought joy to many with her smiles and singing with the Joy Makers Gospel Group. She loved her children unconditionally and will be remembered as a fun Grandmother.

She was born April 8, 1929, to the late Hallie and Bryd Flinchum. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Flemon Phillips; two sisters; and three brothers.

She is survived by daughters, Phyllis Hall, and Carolyn Winters; granddaughter, Kimberly Cooper; grandsons, James and John Hall, and Eric Furrow; great-granddaughters, Kayla Furrow, and Anne Hall; sisters, Lora Phillips, Nelva Shelton, and Veta Taylor; brothers, James I. Flinchum, and Lloyd Flinchum.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday November 1, 2010, at Big Sand Cemetery, Indian Valley, Va., officiated by Pastor E. Gary Marshall with her favorite scripture, Psalm 23.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Indian Valley Presbyterian Church, 942 Macks Mt. Rd., Indian Valley, Va., 24105.
