On Thursday, October 30, 2014, Freeda Ratliff Phillips of Christiansburg, joined her beloved husband Morris of 58 years in their heavenly home. Born on July 5, 1932 to the late Clem & Essie Ratliff of Floyd, VA. Freeda was preceded in death by her brother Clem Jr. and great-granddaughter Ella Leann.

She leaves behind four sons and daughters-in-law, W. Michael and Barbara Phillips, Stephen and Patricia Phillips, Terry and Wanda Phillips, and Jeff and Jill Phillips. grandchildren include; Sara Beth and Michael Vallejo, Bradley and Lori Phillips, Adam Phillips, Casey Phillips, Laura and Dustin Buckland, Corey Phillips and Fiance’ Brittany Frazier, and Shannon Phillips. great- grandchildren, Jared Bruce, Grayson Buckland, Jonathan Phillips and Ryan Chaffin. brother and sisters- in- law Gene and Darlene Ratliff and Frances Ratliff , sisters-in-law, Mamie and Earl Vest, Ruth and George Heafner, and Helen Mabry, many close friends, and her best fur friend Andy.

Freeda was formerly employed by the Virginia Cooperative Extension in Floyd and was employed by the Division of Motor Vehicles and took pride in her family and home. She will be remembered as a woman with a zest for life. Freeda lived a full life with much love to share. Always with a heart of gold and a way to make anyone laugh. She will be remembered fondly as a loving wife, doting mother, and a noble Nana.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Darlene Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery, Floyd. Friends may call between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will be before the service.
