Edith Teel Phillips, 91, of Christiansburg, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Montgomery County, on November 28, 1919, to the late Shelor A. Teel Sr. and Effie Altizer Teel.

She and her late husband, Kirby A. Phillips, were successful dairy farmers in the Riner area for several years before their retirement and move to town in 1990. She loved to sew beautiful quilts and all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are proud recipients of her talents.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, William Kirby Phillips; brothers, Shelor A. Teel Jr., W. Ward Teel, J. Willard Teel, Wendell B. Teel; and sisters, Irene T. Tolley and Dorothy Anne Leftwich. She is survived by her children, Robert A. Phillips and Janet, of Christiansburg, Betty P. Shelburne, of Colonial Heights, Judy P. Mann, of Riner, and Patricia P. Bobbitt, of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Vicki and Paul Jeniolionis, Sharon Boyd, Josh and Karen Phillips, Chris and Alexandra Phillips, Dane and Amanda Bobbitt, Stuart and Karen Bobbitt, Derek Bobbitt, Susanne and Brian Earls, Drew and Tyler Barr. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Sarah and Joey White, Taylor, Brittany, Olivia, Chase, Gage, Brooklyn, Haley, Harrison, Duncan, Devon, Kelton, Kensey, Avery, Josh and Sarah; brother, Donald O. Teel, of Christiansburg; sister, Peggy Sheppard, of Christiansburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2011, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Christiansburg Church of Christ, Christiansburg, with Mr. Dennis Curd officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
