Phillips, Claude Franklin

Claude Franklin (Frankie) Phillips, 66, of Pulaski, Va., passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2010, at his home, 605 Valley Street, in Pulaski. He was born on May 20, 1944, in Pulaski.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna P. Nunn; stepfather, Jessie V. Nunn; and his best friend, Jackie Lester. Survivors include his father, Vernie O. Phillips and his wife, Marilyn, of Boone, N.C.; two very special grandsons, PFC Brian Keith Rochelle Jr., and Cody Alan Rochelle, of Pulaski; a loving daughter, Shannon Michele “Missy” Chewning and sonin-law, Timothy D. Chewning, of Pulaski; son, Charles Wayne Phillips, of Pulaski; daughter, Krystal Leigh Phillips; grandsons, Cpl Cory Wayne Phillips and wife, Danielle, of Jacksonville, N.C., and Dusty Allen Phillips, of Pulaski; granddaughter, Stevie Denise Phillips, of Radford; one great-grandchild, Joshua John Phillips, of Jacksonville, N.C.; brother, James Robert Phillips and wife, Mary Lou, of Pulaski; sister, Linda Vanhoozier and husband, Butch, of Fairlawn; two aunts, Ethel Cutlip Moyer and Marie Hedge Handy, of Salem; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and good neighbors and many lifelong friends.

Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Bobby Lorton officiating and where the VFW Post #776 will conduct Military Rites. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
