Austin Lee Phillips, 55, of Hiwassee, went home to be with his savior August 4, 2012. He was a devoted husband, loving father and humble servant of the Lord. Austin was a licensed land surveyor and had a reputation of being a hardworking and honest man. He was an active member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, Hiwassee.

He was preceded in death by his parents the Rev. Ford and Mrs. Jessie Phillips of Volney. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Vickie; and his children, Amanda Phillips and Dennis Balingit, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Katina (Phillips) and Brian Sokol, of Richmond, Andrew and Tasha Phillips, Snowville, Charity (Phillips) Warden, of Hiwassee, Anna (Phillips) and Robert Clark, Barren Springs; grandchildren, Eli and Olivia Warden, Jeremiah Turner, Sylas Phillips, Kanleigh and Ryan Clark, and Austin Sokol; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Glenda Phillips, of Wise.

Funeral services will be held 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012, from the Grace Fellowship Baptist Church Hiwassee, with the Rev. Derrick Cowan and Doug Ballew officiating. Burial will follow in the Phillips Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012, from the church.
