Phelps, Thomas

Following a long and courageous struggle with cancer, Tom Phelps, our dear friend, husband, father, brother, and grandfather, died at the age of 65 on Friday, September 18, 2015.

Both sons, Adam Michael, of San Francisco, Calif. and Seth Eli, of Floyd, Va,, along with wife, Carol were with him and are now left to grieve his loss and remember all he has taught us about living a full and joyful life.

Tom loved his family, his friends, his craft, his farm, and a good game of golf. He was a happy man with a very big laugh. He had a great love for music and enjoyed it to the end, with much picking and playing on the porch by friends Bernie Coveney and Butch Robins and other talented musician friends.

He leaves behind his wife and two sons; his daughters-in-law, Dr. Dee Beutel and Lara Davis; grandchildren, Eva-belle and Jeret Rigby Phelps; brother, David Phelps and wife, Nancy; sister, Joanne Phelps and husband, Jose of Chicago; a very special aunt, Luella Long; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be private. Mr. Phelps is entrusted to Valley Funeral Home.
