William David (Bill, Pete) Peterson Sr., 82, of Fair Acres, Va., loving husband and devoted father went to be with his Lord in the early hours of the Wednesday morning, on March 24, 2010. Mr. Peterson battled numerous medical conditions, and will be remembered for the way he lived his life through every adversity with hope, dignity and tenacity.

Bill served his family and his country with pride, love and a protective spirit. Bill was an active member of Highland Park Community Church, and a 55 year member of the Snowville Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judy King Peterson; his son, William David Peterson Jr.; daughters, Lynn Peterson Mason and Sydney Peterson Thomson; sisters, Martha Ward, Louise Osborne, and Anne Chrisman; as well as sister-in-law, Jackie Harriman; brother-in-law, Gene E. O’Bryan; nieces, Tammy Osborne Carpenter and Elizabeth Burnette; nephews, Alan and Jeff Osborne, Joe and Jon Bassett, and Craig and David Chrisman; and many loving cousins and special neighbors. He also leaves behind two beloved pets that meant the world to him, Ebony the cat and Bubba the dog.

The family wishes to thank all of those friends and family members who have been such a comfort and support system for Bill and his family.

A “Celebration of Life” ceremony will be held 7 p.m. on Friday evening, March 26, 2010, at Highland Park Community Church in Dublin, 6144 Wright Avenue with the Rev. Mike Blouse officiating and followed by a brief Masonic memorial service. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 6 until 7 p.m.
