Peters, Ocie Gray

Ocie Gray Peters, 90, of Christiansburg, Va., departed this earthly life and loved ones to go home on Monday, December 8, 2008. The daughter of the late William Harrison Peters and Malinda Ellen Lester Peters, she was born in Floyd County, Va., on November 22, 1918. Ocie was preceded in death by sisters, Weda Boothe, Florence Bower, Gertrude Peters and Nellie Peters. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lonnie Edgar Peters and Alvis Edward Peters. Ocie is survived by her devoted and loving sister, Elsie McFarland; sister-in-law, Jean Peters and numerous nieces and nephews. Ocie loved to travel and enjoyed serving with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She also enjoyed spending time with her extended family, especially great-nieces and great-nephews. Ocie’s passing will leave a void in many hearts. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home. The funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2008, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Don Peters with interment to follow in Sunset Cemetery.
