Perkinson, Opal McBride

Opal McBride Perkinson, 89, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2010. She was born and raised in Franklin County, Va. Opal worked at the Dupont factory in Martinsville, Va., where she met and married Clyde Owen Perkinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Owen Perkinson; her parents, Mary Thurman McBride and Elkanah R. McBride; and sister, Elva Christine McBride. She is survived by her brother, Frank O. McBride and sister-in-law, Irma McBride; son, James W. Perkinson and wife, Sandy; daughter, Pamela Johnson; grandchildren, Sheri Johnson Smith, Brian Johnson, Noelle Perkinson, Molly Camper and Nathan Perkinson; and greatgrandchildren, Dulaney Smith, Sullivan Smith, Amber Johnson and Jackson Camper. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 29, 2010, at the Horne Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Monroe Hedrick officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg, Va. The Perkinson family is being served by Horne Funeral Service.
