Peregoy, Mary Alma Chandler

On Wednesday, February 6, 2008, Mary Alma Chandler Peregoy departed from her family and friends in this world to be united with her Savior and reunited with family and friends in Heaven.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James; her son, Marvin; her parents, Grace and Joseph Chandler; and her siblings Ethel, Irene, Fred, Joe and Marvin. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Jane Hendricks, Winston-Salem, N.C., Freda Hurt, Richmond, Va., and Becky Barnett, Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Lee Hendricks, Mike and Sharon Hendricks, Dave and Kim Hurt, Vicki Hurt, Michelle Hurt, James and Carey Barnett, and Greg and Amy Barnett; ten great-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, and a host of loving nieces and nephews, including Fred Chandler who she loved like a son.

Mary’s family will receive visitors at Horne Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2008. A celebratory funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2008, at Cambria Baptist Church where Mary served the Lord for over fifty years and where her body will lie in state for one hour before the service. Interment will be at Sunset Cemetery.
