Pennington, Ray Harold

Ray Harold Pennington, 76, of 276 Timber Road, Barren Springs, Virginia, died Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at his home.

He was born in Pulaski County on July 25, 1930 and was the son of the late Elias Edward Pennington and Virgie Mary Sirt Wolfe Pennington. He was also preceded in death by a son, Danny M. Pennington; five brothers, James, Clyde, Glenn, Joe and Jessie Pennington and one sister, Margaret Rhodes. He was a retired employee of Volvo, Dublin.

Surviving are his wife, Iris Jean Davis Pennington, Barren Springs; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Dana Pennington, Martinsville, David and Alice Pennington, Barren Springs, Roger and Sandy Pennington, Pulaski; daughter-in-law, Joan Pennington Aliff, Snowville; sister, Elizabeth Anderson, Temple, Ga.; brother, Homer Pennington, South Bloomfield, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brian Wyke and the Rev. Randall Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Friday evening from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Hospice of Southwest Virginia.
