Pennington, Barbara Blankenship
Barbara Blankenship Pennington, 70 of Narrows, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on May 22nd, 1946, and was the daughter of the late William Claude and Clara Elizabeth Shrader Blankenship.
In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, David Freeman Pennington; two brothers, Danny Blankenship and Wesley Blankenship; and three sisters, Jane Trout, Lillie Mae Rogers, and Alice Haga.
A retired employee of Celanese in Narrows with 38 years of service, Barbara was a faithful member of Goodwin’s Chapel Church of Christ in Kellysville. She loved gardening and canning, spending countless hours in her kitchen, and also enjoyed flower arranging and crocheting.
She is survived by two sons, Tony Pennington and wife Virginia of Narrows, William Pennington and wife Brittany of Dublin; a daughter, Pamela Peck and fiancé Bucky Blankenship of Narrows; ten grandchildren, Timmy Pennington, Amber Christensen, David Pennington, Alex Pennington, Dustin Blankenship, Chris Pennington, Michael Pennington, Kaitlyn Blankenship, Thomas Pennington, and Sarah Pennington; nine great-grandchildren, and one on the way; a brother, Dale Blankenship and wife Carolyn of Catawba, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Robert Lee Pennington of Pearisburg; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, including special friends Phyllis and Ruth Phillips, Virginia Phillips, and Jackie Bailey.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 23rd, 2016 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Jim Mullins, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pennington Cemetery in the Lurich community near Glen Lyn. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Saturday from 6 to 8 PM.
