Charles Garland (Junebug) Penn Jr., born October 9, 1966, departed and went to be with our God, Our Father on March 22, 2009.

Charles (Junebug) Penn graduated from George Wythe high School in 1985. While attending GWHS, “Junebug ” excelled in basketball under Coach Pat Burn and accumulated numerous Sports Honors. After graduation he attended Roanoke College, Ferrum College and Wytheville Community College. Junebug then entered the army where he served tours in The Gulf War, Germany, Texas and Steilacoom, Wash., where he settled in 2003 and was honorably discharged from the military after loyally serving his beloved country.

Charles Garland Penn is preceded in death by his sister, Frances Irene (Sissy) Penn; fraternal grandfather, James Edward Penn; maternal grandfather, James Timothy Cook. Charles (Junebug) Penn leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Jamilyn Penn; two sons, Kelvin Jared Penn, 16, and Jealon Garland Penn, 14, all from Steilacoom, Wash.; parents Charles Garland Penn Sr. and Lena Mae Penn, of Wytheville; one sister, Robin L. Johnson, of Wytheville; mother-in-law, Zelma Hinton, of Lanham, Md.; two grandmothers, Mrs. Ossie Penn and Mrs. Ida Cook; special aunts, Mrs. Diana Wilson, of Greensboro, N.C. and Ms. Janet Penn, of Wytheville; special cousins Taiford Marva Jarman, of Greensboro, N.C. and Lori Davis, of Bowie, Md.

“Junebug” celebrated life with so much love and always a smile. He shared life with so many other special relatives and friends. Everyone who had an honor of meeting “Junebug” shared love and laughs with him.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at All Nations Church, 1020 Stafford Umberger Dr. Wytheville, Va. Family will receive friends Tuesday March 31, 2009, from 1 to 2 p.m. The remains will be placed in the church for viewing from 12 to 2 p.m. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery.
